Sparkling Tart Citrus Mocktail

serves 5

Recipe By: Kristie Milam Guzman

My “Sparkling Tart Citrus Mocktail” might deserve a better name, but it incorporates my favorite juice from 305 Squeezed, a locally delicious juice company! If you’re up for sharing wine, I’ve also got some favorites I’m enjoying with my friends this year. Cheers to celebrating in all the wonderful ways!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/4 cups 305 Squeezed Orange Ginger Juice
    (found in the produce department)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste for desired sweetness level)
  • 10 oz cranberries, frozen or fresh, plus extra for serving
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary, plus extra for serving
  • Club soda
  • Splash of cranberry juice
(optional, for added flavor and color)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the juice, sugar, cranberries, and rosemary. If possible, use a saucepan with a pour spout for easier pouring later.
  2. Slowly simmer the mixture for 12-15 minutes, stirring frequently. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent boiling so that the syrup does not get thick. The cranberries will pop while cooking.

  1. Remove the saucepan from heat and use the back of a spoon to gently mash the cranberries against the pan.
  2. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the juice, sugar, cranberries, and rosemary. If possible, use a saucepan with a pour spout for easier pouring later.
  3. Strain the syrup through a mesh strainer into a glass jar or cup and refrigerate. Save the cooked cranberries for other uses like a dessert topping or inside of a sandwich with leftover turkey.
  4. To serve, fill a short glass with ice, pour in your desired amount of syrup (approximately 2-3 ounces), and top with club soda. Optionally, add a splash of cranberry juice for a more pronounced flavor and red color.
  5. Garnish each glass with a sprig of rosemary and a toothpick holding a few cranberries for a finishing touch.
